Because the marketing industry is ever-changing, we always have to be on top of the latest trends. What’s the hottest social platform right now? What new brands do we need to know about? What slang are the kids using? Lucky for L&S, every summer, we get a handful of fresh, smart, eager interns to fill us in on what’s cool. And we get the opportunity to teach them a bit about our industry.

Now that they’ve had a chance to settle in, it’s time to formally introduce them. From account service and coordination to design and consumer insights, they’re living and breathing the L&S outthink, outdo mantra. And a few of them have already been offered full-time roles on our team!

Meet our 2021 Ad Camp interns: Angela, Emily, Kelsey, Rachel, Ruby and Sadie.

Angela | Account Service at Lawrence & Schiller

angela young

Where are you from?
Clark, SD.

Where did you go to school? What was your major?
Southwest Minnesota State University. (Go Stangs!) I double majored in Marketing and Communications.

What was your intern position at L&S? What’s your full-time position now?
I was a Consumer Insights Intern. Now, I’m an Account Coordinator!

What project has been your favorite to work on?
I would have to say the new Profile Fresh meals. It was one of the first projects I was able to take the reins on from start to finish, communicating with the client and building that relationship as the new coordinator on the account. Plus, I got to see Roberta design some killer (and delicious-looking) work!

What’s your favorite podcast right now?
Unfortunately, I am not a big podcast girl. I’ve heard great things but have never been able to get into them.

If you could be one animal, what would it be?
This may sound like a cop out, but dog all the way. Who wouldn’t want to get treats and belly scratches all day?

Pizza or tacos?
TACO TUESDAY!!!

Are you a night owl or early riser?
Night owl. This girl needs at least 30 minutes to even prepare to get out of bed.

Seaside or mountain view?
I love the ocean, but you can’t beat the mountains.

Do you say bags or corn hole?
Really? Corn hole? Who are you? BAGS.

Game of Thrones or Harry Potter?
You’re a wizard, Harry⚡️

Emily Erck | Digital Intern at Lawrence & Schiller

emily erck

Where are you from?
Brandon, SD.

Where do you go to school? What’s your major?
I currently go to school at Northwestern in Orange City, IA, and am going into my junior year. I am a double major in Marketing and Public Relations.

What’s your intern position at L&S?
I’m a Digital Intern.

What project has been your favorite to work on?
As a Digi intern, I work on a lot of different little projects every day, but my favorite big project I have worked on is being a part of the process for getting a DAM (Direct Asset Management) system for L&S.

What’s your favorite podcast right now?
I am not a huge podcast listener, but I love to listen to dialogues of movies. I know it sounds weird, but on a long road trip I will often listen to movies instead of music.

If you could be one animal, what would it be?
I would want to be a shark. They are one of the coolest species, but just get a bad rap for the rare times they attack.

Pizza or tacos?
Pizza for sure—especially homemade pizza on the grill or wood-stove. Yum!

Are you a night owl or early riser?
Honestly, I am a bit of both. I stay up late and get up early (which I wouldn’t necessarily recommend).

Seaside or mountain view?
I would say seaside, but I would take either instead of miles of corn fields.

Do you say bags or corn hole?
Bags, for sure.

Game of Thrones or Harry Potter?
I have never seen/read either… was more of a Percy Jackson kinda girl growing up.

Kelsey Frost | Consumer Insights at Lawrence & Schiller

kelsey frost

What’s your intern position at L&S?

What project has been your favorite to work on?
I recently got to moderate (lead the discussion for) a focus group. Getting paid to talk to people and learn about their lives is an absolute dream; I could not stop telling my close friends how excited I was beforehand.

What’s your favorite podcast right now?
Right now, I am loving MOOD with Lauren Elizabeth. I love how real and hilarious she is. I’m actually waiting for her to release a new episode today and have been checking Spotify non-stop. That is how obsessed I am.

If you could be one animal, what would it be?
I would have to say a cat. Their lives seem extremely chill and taking daily naps in the sun sounds pretty ideal.

Pizza or tacos?
Pizza! Despite being lactose intolerant, I am actually addicted.

Are you a night owl or early riser?
Definitely a night owl. I’m slowly working on waking up earlier, but waking up in the morning is still really hard.

Seaside or mountain view?
Seaside! I hope to live by the ocean someday.

Do you say bags or corn hole?

Anything that could fly, so probably a bird.

Creative Pep Talk. I highly recommend for anyone that needs a little inspiration or motivation in their creative practice.
