ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Media Specialist role is the next step up from coordination — balancing the details of campaign execution while starting to flex into media strategy. You’ll still keep campaigns on track and running smoothly, but you’ll also get to dive deeper into researching channels, building vendor relationships, and shaping strategy recommendations.
This isn’t social posting or production work — it’s paid media placement and strategy across digital, broadcast, print, radio, out-of-home and more. You’ll learn to think big-picture while keeping an eye on the details that make campaigns successful.
Location: Sioux Falls, SD or Minneapolis, MN
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
As a Media Specialist, you’ll play in both the tactical and strategic space. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Grow knowledge and insight on media channels and audience consumption trends.
- Research media partners and emerging channels to uncover new placement opportunities.
- Build and foster relationships with media vendors to collaborate and negotiate buys.
- Collaborate and brainstorm with the media discipline and the broader agency team to propose fresh placement ideas and innovative executions.
- Assist in building media placement strategies and calendar recommendations.
- Clearly communicate media strategy to internal teams and clients for review and approval.
- Contract media buys across all types of media: digital, social, radio, print, video, out-of-home, etc.
- Coordinate creative asset development with internal teams and manage trafficking to external partners.
- Measure campaign performance, analyzing data to identify optimization opportunities and recommendations for campaign development.
- Manage client reporting deliverables, checking data and providing digestible takeaways.
- Work with finance to process client bills and reconcile vendor invoices.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

- A communicator who’s comfortable presenting ideas internally and externally.
- A curious, strategic thinker who wants to grow in the paid media space.
- A four-year degree in media, marketing, journalism, advertising, communications, or business is required.
- 1-3 years working in paid media or a related role is preferred.
- Bonus points if you have direct paid media experience or have worked in Excel, project management tools and digital ad platforms.
