L&S Studio briefs usually get quite a bit of attention. Creators come rushing in with ideas, experience and a desire to be selected. But how do we decide who gets the job? And how can you stand out amongst the rest?

Like any job interview, it’s not about having the most experience or the perfect portfolio. It’s about how you present yourself. On L&S Studio, the best place to do that is in your interest inquiries. Consider this your crash course on mastering the brief response process. Don’t worry, we’ll keep it brief (ba-dum-tiss).

Interest Inquiries 101

They may not seem all that important. Maybe even tedious. But if our team can tell just how much effort you’ve put into a brief, the better your chances of getting selected. Let’s take it step by step.

Why This Brief

Tell us why you’re applying. What is it about this project that interests you? What makes you a good fit? Generic answers like “I think this would be fun” don’t tell the value and unique perspective you’ll bring to the project. Be specific about what draws you to the inquiry and what you’d bring to it.

Why This Industry

We want to know if you have any experience making content for this specific industry. If so, share it with us. If not, tell us why you’re interested in it. Some inquiries may require a level of industry knowledge to make something authentic. If that’s something you’re missing—and you can’t provide any insight as to why—that could impact your chances of being selected.

Initial Ideas

The best place to make a good impression is with your initial creative direction. We’re not looking for a complete concept or spec work, but we should see that you’ve thought about your approach to completing the inquiry. You can even show us some inspiration you’re drawing from to make your content. The more we can see your vision, the closer you are to making it a reality.

Work It

As a content creator, odds are you probably have a portfolio of work you’ve done in the past. We want to see that! Not only does it show us your style, but we can also learn more about your skill level and get to know you better in the process.

What counts as a work sample? Anything that shows off your creativity. It could be photos you’ve taken, TikToks/Reels you’ve made for yourself or another brand, posts jumping on trends. See where we’re going with this?

If you’re submitting samples as a part of a brief, but they don’t directly relate to the project, take a moment to explain your approach or how your style would translate to the work. Creators that actually take the time to do this tend to be our finalists.

Pomp & Circumstance

Congratulations! You just got a crash course in L&S Studio interest inquiries. We know this is a lot to take in, but even small tweaks can make a big difference. If you’re already doing all this and still not landing jobs, reach out and set up a one-on-one to chat with us. We want to see everyone find success on L&S Studio.
