ABOUT THE ROLE:
The Media Strategist role is where big-picture thinking meets leadership — you’ll connect the dots across channels, clients, and teams to build media strategies that truly move the needle. You’re a strategic thinker who sees how all the pieces fit together and can clearly communicate with clients.
This isn’t just about placing media — it’s about leading integrated strategies that drive measurable results across digital, broadcast, print, radio, out-of-home and more. You’ll think critically about the media landscape, guide your team through complex projects, and ensure every decision ladders up to client goals.
Location: Sioux Falls, SD or Minneapolis, MN
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
As a Media Strategist, your primary responsibility is to lead media strategy and innovation for clients. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Stay ahead of the media landscape, tracking industry trends, consumption habits, innovative technology and emerging opportunities.
- Lead and cultivate vendor relationships, serving as the primary contact for strategic partnerships and identifying new channels, platforms or executions.
- Collaborate with consumer insights to lead media and market research, transforming data and information into something actionable to build stronger recommendations.
- Develop innovative media strategies that support client goals and drive measurable business outcomes.
- Lead media’s role in the agency critical path, ensuring timely communication with internal teams and external partners.
- Present media strategies to clients with confidence and maintain ongoing client communication.
- Execute media buys across all channels (digital, social, video, audio, OOH, print, etc.) using Media Ocean software.
- Provide strategic input on creative development, campaign optimizations, and performance analysis.
- Develop custom reporting deliverables that translate data into actionable insights and inform future planning.
- Manage media team workload, organizing projects and priorities across multiple client accounts while upholding execution standards.
- Oversee billing processes, including invoice reconciliation and client media placement billing.
- Mentor team members and contribute to understanding media profitability.
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

- A confident communicator who excels at presenting complex media strategies to clients and internal stakeholders.
- A proactive problem-solver who thrives on managing multiple priorities and keeping teams aligned.
- A four-year degree in media, marketing, journalism, advertising, communications, or business is required.
- 3-5 years working in paid media or marketing with demonstrated strategic and leadership experience is preferred.
- Bonus points if you have experience with media buying software and self-serve platforms like Meta, Google Ads, Mediaocean and more.
