meet the hosts

Sara Waldner

To Sara, business is relationships – and relationships are her business. In a typical day, Sara’s working alongside clients on marketing plans, navigating challenges, managing projects and implementing new processes to elevate our account service discipline. Sara also helps develop new client relationships, lead agency initiatives like L&S Studio and speak at thought leadership events for organizations around the state. But the job doesn’t stop inside the walls of L&S. Sara demonstrates an ongoing commitment to our community by fostering relationships through tireless service and volunteer work. When she’s not in the office you’ll find her representing L&S at community events, volunteering for organizations like Junior Achievement and the Sioux Empire United Way, and serving on the Augustana University Alumni Council. We like to say that Sara’s the girl who does it all and somehow manages to get it all done, and our clients love her for that positivity, consistency and accountability.

Kristy Laue

Kristy is a seasoned copywriter and creative director with nearly 20 years of experience creating strategic, award-winning campaigns. As VP of Creative, Kristy leads creative strategy, professional development and innovation for our 20-person team of writers, designers, editors and cinematographers. The best part of her day is seeing their talent at work. Outside of L&S, Kristy’s passionate about nurturing great work and young talent. She serves as a judge for the American Advertising Awards, Telly Awards and the Effie Awards; mentors elementary school students through the TeamMates program; serves as board president for Mosaic Arts & Events, and is an adjunct instructor at South Dakota State University.

Carly Hegstad

Carly knows how to drive growth through digital, leading our team in the development of sophisticated social, email, CRM, app and website strategies. With over a decade of experience, Carly’s worked across client industries to create engaging digital strategies, grow leads and demonstrate ROI through marketing analytics and reporting. Carly loves the fast-paced world of digital and coaches a team of strategists who are skilled at helping clients understand its value. She’s also passionate about agency innovation, helping spearhead the creation of L&S Studio and evolving the way we develop user generated content for clients. A Colorado native, Carly holds a BA in Public Relations and Business Administration from Northwestern College where she also serves on their alumni board.
