With the calendar turning to May, it’s hopefully safe to say winter has passed and spring is finally here. With the arrival of spring, the summer travel season is just around the corner. Now is an especially great time to get excited about summer travel since this week is National Travel and Tourism Week. Every year during Tourism Week, the U.S. Travel Association celebrates the value of travel, highlighting the impact that tourism has on state and local economies, businesses and personal well-being.

Here at L&S, we are particularly fond of Tourism Week. L&S has had the privilege of working with the travel and tourism industry for the past 30 years, outthinking and outdoing to spread the word about South Dakota’s one-of-a-kind travel experiences. From promoting inspiring monuments and wild west history to showcasing outdoor adventure and the best hunting and fishing in the country, we are proud of the relationships we have built and the success we have enjoyed together.

There are plenty of studies that tout the personal benefits of travel, and it is safe to say that most people would agree that plenty of fun and enjoyment comes from a good vacation. Even though travel is good for individuals, it is great for states’ economies.

South Dakota and its communities have seen the economic benefits of the tourism industry firsthand. Travel and tourism are vital to South Dakota’s economy and are a way of life for more than 37,000 South Dakotans that work in the tourism industry. L&S is honored to be able to play a part in such a great industry and to help our state’s economy grow.

Whether it’s appreciating the personal benefits of a vacation or the economic impact that travel has on South Dakota, this week is the perfect time to celebrate our state’s Great Faces and Great Places. Here’s to another great peak season!
