L&S is about to celebrate its 49th anniversary. For any business, that’s quite a milestone. Over nearly five decades, we’ve witnessed and adapted to sweeping changes in marketing, business and technology. Each evolution has been a new chapter in our story – and a reason we love the agency biz so much.

Which is why, on the brink of our birthday, we’re excited to announce another big chapter in the book of L&S. Effective immediately, our fearless Leader of the Band Scott Lawrence is stepping down, and Micah Aberson will rejoin the agency as its new CEO. In addition, Laura Mitchell will be promoted to the role of President and Chief Operating Officer.

Scott, who’s been with L&S for 40 years, is optimistic about the new opportunities this change will bring. “For nearly 50 years, Lawrence & Schiller has been the one of the Midwest’s premier marketing agencies, built on strong relationships and best-in-class creative. To continue our growth and our ability to innovate, we need new perspectives and broader networks. I’m thrilled to hand the reins to Micah Aberson, whose experience and leadership will take L&S to new heights.”

It helps that Micah is a friendly face around the office. After graduating from Augustana University, Micah started his career at L&S, working in account service, then eventually leadership and ownership roles. He left in 2015 and returns after gaining a decade of leadership experience, serving as Executive Vice President of Sanford Health, President of Mammoth Sports Construction and President of Cambria, the Minnesota-based countertop manufacturer.

“Marketing has always been my first love in business and my native language,” Micah says. “I’m honored to return to L&S as CEO and lead this talented team to new opportunities, with a relentless focus on the success of our clients.”

As CEO, Micah will spend much of his time on strategic direction, new business and working “on” the agency.  Laura Mitchell, as President and COO, will keep our people, processes and projects at the leading edge, working “in” the agency. Laura’s a 20-year veteran of L&S and will work closely with the agency’s leadership team to ensure seamless operations while Micah focuses on the agency’s broader vision.

If those changes weren’t newsworthy enough, the agency is also saying farewell to agency partners Mark Glissendorf and Dan Edmonds during this transition. Mark began his career at L&S in our broadcast department, then transitioned to roles in account service, operations and agency ownership over his 35+ year career. Dan has been with L&S since 1987, serving in various roles from art director to agency partner and owner. Mark and Dan have made invaluable contributions to the agency over their long-standing careers, making a positive impact on clients and the Sioux Falls community. As Dan and Mark step away, we raise a glass to them and wish all the best as their next chapter begins.

Fellow agency partners Scott Lawrence and John Pohlman will stay on through this transition to support Micah, Laura and the leadership team as they pave the future for L&S.
