SMALL NOTES. BIG IMPACT.

SD BEHAVIORAL HEALTH
Notes to Self
In South Dakota, stigmas around behavioral health run deep. In reality, 1 in 6 South Dakotans live with a mental illness. The need for help is more common than we think.
After talking with care providers, law enforcement and people with lived experience, we took their notes to heart, leading to a campaign that’s all about how little things add up.
A note, text, coffee date or phone call – it’s not much to ask. But for someone who needs to feel seen, it’s everything. The “Notes to Self” campaign uses texts, post-its and other affirmations to remind people that they are seen, they matter and that help is always here.

Breaking Down Walls by Building One
For National Mental Health Awareness Month, we created a striking installation of more than 13,500 positive notes, representing each of the 13,500+ contacts made to South Dakota’s 988 Lifeline in 2024. We also highlighted individual stories, showing how behind each note, there’s a real person who’s been impacted the Lifeline.
We also mobilized giant statues for 988 Day in September, bringing a message of awareness and acceptance to college campuses and downtowns across the state.
